Things To See & Places To Be

You’ll feel the magic of the Kentucky Bluegrass and especially beautiful Woodford County (home to many historical horse farms) as you drive scenic roadways leading to Scottwood.

Horse farm tours can be arranged if your schedule allows it.

The Elkhorn Creek, almost 100 miles long and winding through parts of six counties, played an important role in the settlement of the Bluegrass area. Poet Walt Whitman, whose brother was encamped in Kentucky in 1863, wrote: "A southerner soon as a northerner, A planter nonchalant and hospitable. A Yankee, bound my own way, ready for trade, my joints the limberest joints on earth and the sternest joints on earth, A Kentuckian, walking the vale of the Elkhorn in my deer-skin leggings,..." Whether your interest lies in exploring historic sites, photography, hiking, fishing (some sections of the Elkhorn are great for bass fishing), picnicking, or just a quiet canoe ride, the Elkhorn and the Bluegrass Region is a place you'll want to return to again and again.
